Job Details

In this role, you will...

Be responsible for designing, operating, and improving enterprise infrastructure, endpoint engineering capabilities, and assigned operational platforms. Support a broad technology portfolio that includes data center and IaaS environments, enterprise workstation engineering, and operational platforms used across the company. Be a key resource and contributor within the Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations department.

Independently perform complex technical work, improve reliability through automation and sound engineering practices, and serve as a technical escalation point for infrastructure, endpoint, and platform issues. Provide operational ownership of assigned technologies, including lifecycle management, resiliency, and continuous improvement while partnering with other technology teams on solutions and service transitions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, implement, operate, and maintain assigned enterprise infrastructure and platforms, including compute, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, monitoring, capacity/performance, and infrastructure lifecycle and operational support, with accountability for the reliability, availability, performance, and lifecycle of data center and IaaS environments.
  • Engineer and maintain standardized enterprise workstation images and configurations, including operating system updates, drivers, firmware/BIOS, application compatibility, removal of obsolete applications and versions, and continuous image maintenance and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain software packages and automated deployment processes for application installation, configuration, upgrades, and removal to support repeatable and scalable software deployment processes.
  • Own assigned infrastructure and platforms throughout their operational lifecycle, including availability, upgrades, lifecycle planning, vendor coordination, security alignment, support readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify and remediate infrastructure and platform technical debt, obsolete technologies, unsupported versions, configuration inconsistencies, and recommend opportunities for standardization or retirement.
  • Independently handle and lead the resolution of complex infrastructure, endpoint, and platform incidents; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Improve platform reliability and resiliency through monitoring, capacity and performance management, recovery readiness, business continuity, and proactive problem management.
  • Use PowerShell, Python, or other automation technologies to standardize operations, reduce repetitive manual work, and improve reliability and scalability for both infrastructure and endpoint engineering.
  • Maintain system security and integrity and ensure supported technologies comply with applicable company controls, technical requirements, and security standards.
  • Contribute to architecture, technical design, engineering standards, and implementation planning with technology and business partners.
  • Lead defined projects and workstreams involving complex infrastructure, endpoint, and platforms within established time and financial constraints.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, support and escalation processes, and service health information; support knowledge transfer and cross-training within the team.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point for the IT Service Desk and other technology teams; develop documentation, automation, training, and repeatable support procedures that enable appropriate issues and administrative activities to be resolved at Level 1/Level 2 and reduce unnecessary engineering escalations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors during implementations, upgrades, incidents, platform transitions, and operational handoffs.
  • Serve as a key resource for interactions with staff across technical teams, including the Enterprise Application and Architecture groups.
  • May perform additional functions depending on business demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant and progressive experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform operations, and endpoint engineering.
  • Proven experience driving assigned workstreams within initiatives that improved operational performance and reliability.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure or multi-data center environments, including virtualization, storage, backup/recovery, monitoring, and high-availability technologies.
  • Experience engineering and maintaining enterprise workstation images and standardized endpoint configurations.
  • Experience with enterprise software packaging and automated application deployment, upgrades, configuration, and removal.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Windows Server administration experience, including server roles and features.
  • Virtualization administration experience, preferably VMware vSphere.
  • Storage administration experience and knowledge of storage protocols.
  • Experience with backup, replication, restoration, and recovery technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, systems analysis, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with systems engineering practices, including requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience authoring technical documentation and communicating technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and coordinate work across multiple teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and operate with minimal direction.
  • Ability to occasionally adjust work schedule to meet business needs (standard forty (40) hour week with occasional after-hours and weekend requirements as needed).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Exchange Online administration experience.
  • Experience with enterprise endpoint management, device provisioning, configuration management, and software distribution platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, observability, capacity management, and service health metrics.
